think ELP did great in both his trades…put the last two trades together and see what he gave up/lost.
He gave up
Sizemore
Zimmerman
Nathan
And got
Chavez
Wheeler
Soriano
Lopez
Tankersly
So he replaced Sizemore with Soriano (Soriano > than sizemore…though in this format it’s a bit closer due to OBP). He replaced Zimmerman for Chavez (zim was on his bench due to terrible performances), he replaced a top tier closer with another closer in wheeler, and got a 2nd baseman and got a holds/possible saves guy in Tankersly.
yeah, mike, i already got your email on this. good cut and paste work.
i disagree with you both. would rather have sizemore and nathan and the upside turnaround power of zimmerman (ie. quality) over the quantity received back.
i got the #4 pick in our draft and to thin kzimmerman turns it around is laughable considering the horrible, horrible team he is on and even if he does turn it around the numbers dont blow anyone away
Not sure "excess" is there...but i'm always willing to make deals, so i'm not saying any are untouchable...
SP- Webb, Garcia, King Felix, Colon, Anthony Reyes, Fausto Carmona, Jon Lester (DL), Homer Bailey RP - Al Reyes, Joakim Soria, Henry Owens, J. Accardo, S. Schoeneweis, B. Hennessey, C. Janssen
What were you going to give up for Pierre? I'm only curious because i attempted to get him yesterday as well...then realized the OBP hit that he'd bring along with those SB's would be terrible...completely cancelling out the advantage my team has with Bonds OBP of 1.30+
Man-Ram's ability to hit for power will decline more rapidly with his age, than Soriano's ability to steal bags...
Man-Ram is 4 years older. This is not a keeper league...so this year soriano has a much better chance of maintaining his level of play (his skill set) than Man ram
i did it right when he dropped him. before you. but i am 17th, and you are 16th. you will get him over me. but there are 15 other people that have to pass on him.
you know one of those players' value is going down in about 2 weeks so pipe it or wipe it.
Value going down? You just said you wanted him for his holds...so in turn that would make his value go up. And with him performing well and Dotel's spotty injury history he'd be one of the setup men who could easily step back into the closers role
i know elp. if young was hamels (re: upside) or smoltz (re: known quantity) this deal would be done.
i just don't trust chris young. maybe it is his screwy devilvery or his huge feet. i just don't know. same reason i can't draft joe horn in football. cuz i hate his name.
same reason i can't draft joe horn in football. cuz i hate his name.
I think the main reason you shouldn't draft him is because his skills are diminishing and he has gone to a system that is not kind to WR's...but that's just me
Seriously. Halladay's velocity is down. I think he is hurt. check out my post earlier today about pulling the offer. i wouldn't have pulled it if I wasn't unsure whether the guy was healthy.
spiff -- also keep in mind that zeke is trying to get smoltz from you and that corbin is trying to get players from. of course they don't want a deal to go through.
it will get vetoed if unfair. look how many corbin has had vetoed.
i gotta go to lunch. spiff, do what you gotta do. but i am not a liar. an objective analysis shows that to be a fair trade that helps both teams. thats all you can ask for.
thought you would find this hidden agenda intersting spiff. -------------------------------- "Spliff’s not making a move…counter. This is a precursor move to another I am bouts to accept, and if I don’t get this one I’m going in another direction…today"
"thought you would find this hidden agenda intersting spiff. -------------------------------- "Spliff’s not making a move…counter. This is a precursor move to another I am bouts to accept, and if I don’t get this one I’m going in another direction…today"
This was regarding the initial deal for Pods, one which would not alter any dealings with any parties involved here...nothing hidden about it, i told mills he had 10 minutes to accept
I see O-ranks more as ranks that were set before the season started...(though they do change periodically througout the season)...
A lot can change, someone can take a starting job, someone can turn the corner, etc. Ranks are the only way to go, but just realized that if someone was ranked in the 600's before the season, and they're in the top 100 now, try to find a reason as to why the disparity.
current ranks are stupid to go by. too early in the season to do so. ryan howard sucks if you do that. so does david wright. lets not forget that scrub pujols. they are off to slower starts, but will pick it up. their ranks at the end of the year will show this to be true.
and before any of you accuse me of being on an ego trip look who has the 3rd waiver priority and notice he only referenced the top 2 waiver priorities.
(corby actually has 3 but you can't grab your own guy off waivers)
I think you can still grab him...and fully plan on doing so.
I know of a guy who will be added on waivers who will be added soon and wouldn't mind moving up on waivers. Markakis was dropped for this sole purpose...

it is hard to conceptulize your team elp, since you have some many guys going out and coming in.
freak -- what is up with my sheffield offer. i know you are considering it, since you rejected the other one, but not the sheff deal.
i am having second thoughts though after last night.
Trying a bit too hard here mills
so wait then
basically i get a bullpen guy in tankersley, my star sori and a marginal 2b player
Trying a bit too hard here mills
huh?
are you talking about your trade with meiz?
yeah, i didn't like it, but i am not so big on sori either. corbin thinks you did alright.
corbs - you got any excess sp's?
sori better than manny
for sure
just look at the numbers
not if you don't care about sbs in the equation.
manny wins rbis, hrs, avg. sori wins runs and sbs.
i will take 3 categories instead of 2.

The disparity in HR is easily offset by the SB he gains mills...you're a moron if you don't see this
pretty sure sori had more hr's than manny
yeah, mike, i already got your email on this. good cut and paste work.
i disagree with you both. would rather have sizemore and nathan and the upside turnaround power of zimmerman (ie. quality) over the quantity received back.
not surprised you disagree

"yeah, mike, i already got your email on this. good cut and paste work."
I was c/p for elp since you said I agreed with his trade
and now i dont have to overpay zeke for sb's in pieere (which i was really close to doing)
i have 9 SP's, but 2 on DL
What were you going to give up for Pierre? I'm only curious because i attempted to get him yesterday as well...then realized the OBP hit that he'd bring along with those SB's would be terrible...completely cancelling out the advantage my team has with Bonds OBP of 1.30+
Manny has average .312, 40 hrs, 120 rbis, 104 runs, and 1.5 sbs (and he was hurt at the end of last season). over the last 4 seasons.
Sori has averaged .278, 37hrs, 95 rbis, 103 runs, 31 sbs over the last 4 years.
He had better value as a 2B. Now he is a regular OFer and Manny is better.
he wanted upton and young i think for his 2b and pierre
i think, i deleted the email
either way he wasnt budgin
zeke's a shrewd gm
so you get a couple more ribbies and 3 more dingers while i gain 36 some odd SB's
you dont see this?
pierres OBP is .615...
Even better. Here are their career 162 game avgs.
Soriano = .281, 35 hrs, 35 sbs, 105 runs, 93 rbis.
MannybeingManny = .313, 42 hrs, 3 sbs, 112 runs, 135 rbis.
Manny wins 4 out of 5 again.
mike -- i will have interest in soria when dotel comes back, since i am punting saves.
elp -- if you feel like you need sbs and don't want to overpay. a fair sp will net him from me.
AGE IS ON THE SIDE OF SORIANO...AND HIS SKILL SET WILL TRANSLATE BETTER WITH AGE THAN MAN-RAMS
i have others for sbs. don't need it. 4 out of 5 categories carries it for me.
is this a keeper league?
i gave you 4 year averages and career averages. Manny isn't going to shit the bed this year.
SBs decline with AGE jackass. His skill set does NOT age better than Manny's.
who, pods again?
Man-Ram's ability to hit for power will decline more rapidly with his age, than Soriano's ability to steal bags...
Man-Ram is 4 years older. This is not a keeper league...so this year soriano has a much better chance of maintaining his level of play (his skill set) than Man ram
spiff -- you here?
trade up to you
yeah -- i am not asking much.
or mike cameron, who has 25/25 history. if you want to put up with a pathetic avg.
cameron went 22/25 last year
i just pulled my sheff for halladay offer for freak.
hallady has been losing velocity his last 2 starts. i think something is wrong with him.
"yeah -- i am not asking much."
Mills, i have offered you more than not much
you didn't offer me a trade for cameron or pods.
check again
i wish i knew when pods will be back and at what capacity
cuz right now, your looking at zach duke and that's about it
i gotta send rev some trades, he's got three closers
I believe freak is out of town at that concert.
Pods is out at least a month, and will not be rushed back, will probably hit 9th for a bit
thats not bad mikey. let me think about it.
why did you keep hermida and not markakis?
zeke, abreau / dye?
i hope i got my markakis waiver in before all you fuckers
i dont have the stomach to be a GM, im like bill stoneman over here
on the radar mike. i need to see what happens with spiff here before i do anything with a counter.
you would probably like the counter offer better even.
EP - talk to me, re: dye/abreu
spiff - hoffman, let's get a deal done
DL eligibility for another week john
damn you spiff!!!
anyway....did you see my offer?
mills, dont wait on me, just do your thing, i am not acting soon
well i got sp
any sp i have for abreau striaght up, your pick
I would offer Billy Butler, but I don't think anybody knows who he is outside of Michael Brandon.
He is hitting too. 21. legit.
spiff -- i need sp over anything else.
i can't move until i have sp in some shape or form.
DL eligibility was my main concern...i'm working on something big here and needed the roster spot...
Then hours after i drop markakis they state that Bailey isn't going to get the call because they don't feel he's ready and needs more seasoning...
damn
damn me for what?
mills, dont wait on me, just do your thing, i am not acting soon
what's so hard. you have 9 sp's (2 on the DL). work with what you have in excess to make the rest of your team better.
That is what I am doing with my OFers.
I have Manny coming now, and need to make some room and recoup some of the Peavy loss.
young and perralta
damn your for markakis
the funny thing about all this.
Elp is trying to get an OFer. I am trying to get a SP. But we don't like each others players.
Spiff -- you are 16th on the waiver wire. Markakis will not be yours.
Mike will pick him back up before you get a chance to.
spiff I put a trade up on the board for you to consider.
peralta may be having a breakout season and the injuns look good
negative, then i'll be slumming it at ss
how do you know this? i didnt just try right now,i did it yesterday
Hamels for Franc the Tank?
Smoltz for Franc the Tank?
Is it Sheff?
weazy zach duke for pods is the best i can do
the guy is such a ? at this point
dookie aint bad, i'm sacrificing a roster spot by making this trade
You guys can enjoy Markakis and his .235 average and .700 OPS
Dude has killed me long enough
it is all based on priority.
i did it right when he dropped him. before you. but i am 17th, and you are 16th. you will get him over me. but there are 15 other people that have to pass on him.
and chris young doesnt excite you
sorry you dont like towering right handers who could win 15 games and strikeout 180-200 batters
elp -
corbs has already offered much better.
for abreu though?
i see, that sucks
I'm not big on hitters for pitchers, hitters are a more known commodity. Too much chance for injury with pitchers.
are you talking to me re: chris young?
spiff -- what about my OFers do you not like?
Sheff has history and is throwing in sbs this year to boot (5 so far)
Franc the Tank has upside galore and 30 rbis this year already.
corbs has already offered much better.
That deal is being pulled in 10 minutes...at 11:32 on my clock
pull it then. i am not going to be pushed around you little bitch.
you know one of those players' value is going down in about 2 weeks so pipe it or wipe it.
Watch out for Spiff...you'll end up geting a jose cruz jr/hoffman deal for your first round pick (beltran)
spiff I sweetened the deal
yes young (padres),yesterday you said you dindt like him i think
if corb offered better than take it
weazy i'll take sheff but you said i have nothing for him
basically, im not knowledgeable about baseball, and have no idea what equal value is
just remember sheff is like 40 and takes days off
spiff hirer corb to be your rep
zeke, top K guy on my team and top saves guy in the league, dont think ima trade em
you know one of those players' value is going down in about 2 weeks so pipe it or wipe it.
Value going down? You just said you wanted him for his holds...so in turn that would make his value go up. And with him performing well and Dotel's spotty injury history he'd be one of the setup men who could easily step back into the closers role
i know elp. if young was hamels (re: upside) or smoltz (re: known quantity) this deal would be done.
i just don't trust chris young. maybe it is his screwy devilvery or his huge feet. i just don't know. same reason i can't draft joe horn in football. cuz i hate his name.
i might have to, especially if dealing with weazy, corb would not let weazy get a really sweet deal
zeke is shrewd
LOF is going to overtake LOV today. Closing the gap by the minute.
"spiff hirer corb to be your rep"
I won't cost much...hell all i command in salary is Cole Hamels
alright spiff I put something else up, a new direction.
that's fine
and you all know when oakland makes the 2nd half run blanton will be key....
jus sayin
same reason i can't draft joe horn in football. cuz i hate his name.
I think the main reason you shouldn't draft him is because his skills are diminishing and he has gone to a system that is not kind to WR's...but that's just me
corb wouldn't let you pull the trigger as he only wants to help himself, and he thinks he can get something from you probably. i wouldn't trust him.
i can honestly give you objective analysis.
if you can get markakis. i would hesitate to pull the trigger. i don't think you are gettig him though.
you need help in the OF. You are currently starting Aaron Rowand and Jose Fing Cruz, Jr. That is awful.
maybe you can find some patchwork OFer for a lesser SP (Hill perhaps on a sell high trade?), but that just brings you another Rowand.
You need help in the OF. Legitimate proven dude.
oh..i like blanton. i would do cameron for blanton. that is 25/25 potential for you.
what do you think?
rowand has had a very surprisingly great season so far
check your board elp
blanton >>>>> cameron
Cam no
sheff yes
yea, basically i have to wait on markakis waiver, then consider all these trades
spiff -- i don't see that keeping up. Besides, Cruz Jr. is still in there and he is awful AND PLATOONING. He doesn't even play full time.
Mills...now that the first offer has been cancelled, what you think of the 2nd?
spiff check the last deal I put up then I'll leave this be.
fyi...you won't get markakis if you see my waiver priority.
Blanton for Sheff is redonkulous.
Sheff's o-rank is 65, his rank is 76.
Blanton has an O-rank in the 300's and his current rank is still in the 100's.
I think it is AWFUL.
I am not giving you Harden and Pods for nobody worthwhile.
Harden will lead my team come playoff time. If he was healthy, I wouldn't even be entertaining SP deals.
mills take a deep breath buddy.
Spiff -- when in doubt, use ranks as your guide to equal value.
Look at O-Rank, which predicts how they will end up at the end of the year.
Then look at their current rank to see how they are measuring up to the prediction.
Then look at previous year ranks and see how close those are.
If numbers look fair, good, and close. Pull the trigger, with me or anybody else.
i LOVE this shit.
when are winter meetings?
re Harden will lead my team come playoff time.
You'd better make it there first little fella...
what was your counter?
Still looking for more hitting.
Pretty much any pitcher other than Santana.
Ben is destroying me this week.
zeke, smoltz is already on the table with weaz
freak. we can revisit hallady for sheff. but... i am hesistant.
your thoughts?
weaz i countered for smoltz with o-ranks in mind
if i get shafted, i expect a veto by the league
my thoughts...
you can be hesitant all you want.
smoltz/sheff will be accepted within the minute
i think the league will protect anyone against weazy
too muhc of a unkown in hermedia corb
spiff -- countered. i think when you look at the new guys stats, you will like.
spiff let me interpret weazy's "rank" comment (pun intended)
per weazy:
use the rankings as a means to promote your trade when they are in your favor.
don't use the ranks if they don't help your trade argument.
spiff -- o-ranks were only off 9 spots. that is half a round in this league. thats nothing.
but check out the next counter. just can't do broxton.
i agree with that elp re: hermida. he hasn't done anything in the bigs (kind of flopped last year). too much on an unknown.
sheff for halladay?
AAHHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAH
is this a new low for weazy?
yea, what happened to o-ranks weaz?
Corbin. You are going the wrong way.
To show what an idiot you are being.
Soria, Reyes, and Hermida for Thome?
Are you stupid?
Spot on for Weazy's ranks
zeke -- 17 earned over the last 2 starts. He gets W's, era and whip, BUT NO K's.
Spiff-- i just told you re: o-ranks. new guy has good current ranks.
o-ranks were already equal.
i feel this is more than fair for where both our clubs are and what we need.
Spiff -- new guy has 3 wins, 5 holds, 2.70 era. 15 k's. that is salty.
hell that is only 2 behind smoltz to begin with.
zeke -- 17 earned over the last 2 starts. He gets W's, era and whip, BUT NO K's.
contreras just pitched nine shutout innings yesterday. ZERO EARNED over his last start!
He's #1!!!!!!!!!!
(heavy s for weazy)
spiff you gotta think about current/future performance.
this early in the season, any player off to a hot start will have a great rank.
as they cool off the rank will go up.
ranks aren't the end all be all.
meaning don't listen weazy and his ranking bs.
Seriously. Halladay's velocity is down. I think he is hurt. check out my post earlier today about pulling the offer. i wouldn't have pulled it if I wasn't unsure whether the guy was healthy.
Spiff -- new guy has 3 wins, 5 holds, 2.70 era. 15 k's. that is salty.
hell that is only 2 behind smoltz to begin with.
Why don't you just say Carlos "a guy i just picked up off of waivers on May 7th" Villanueva
Dude isn't worth jack...you can't expect middle relief W's, he's using his rank currently to stick it right in your ass...
ranks aren't the end all be all.
exactly zeke. that is why 0-rank is important. cuz that predicts over the full season.
fuck you corbin.
you know full well smoltz for sheff is fair based on o ranks (within 9 of each other) and current ranks (SHEFF IS AHEAD OF HIM).
Good luck getting trades to go through...that's all i'm saying
cuz zambrano should be licking balls on my team now rather than TeamBrianPeppers
spiff -- also keep in mind that zeke is trying to get smoltz from you and that corbin is trying to get players from. of course they don't want a deal to go through.
it will get vetoed if unfair. look how many corbin has had vetoed.
i gotta go to lunch. spiff, do what you gotta do. but i am not a liar. an objective analysis shows that to be a fair trade that helps both teams. thats all you can ask for.
good luck.
would anyone have vetoed
smoltz
for
shef/broxton
just want to see if im learning anything
Shef/Brox is close...i probably wouldn't veto just because i can see the thinking...with Villanueva it is a lot closer to a veto
that's a decent deal in my view.
sorry to come back. i am leaving.
thought you would find this hidden agenda intersting spiff.
--------------------------------
"Spliff’s not making a move…counter. This is a precursor move to another I am bouts to accept, and if I don’t get this one I’m going in another direction…today"
-Mike Corbin
sheff and brox is not happening. i won't do that. period.
vill and sheff fine. vill has the better ranks right now anyway.
sheff edal i would not veto that spiff
O-Ranks are pure garbage. Use the regular ranks.
Example: Mike Lowell; O-Rank-288
Actual Rank- 34
and weazy and crob have turned this into all my children
that's a fair trade.
and I pulled my offer for smoltz before I found out you two were talking.
my team is all around solid and I don't need to make deals for deal making sake.
"thought you would find this hidden agenda intersting spiff.

and spiff, notice that if you used mike and meiz's idea of ranks you should jump on sheff and vill right now for smoltz. i say current ranks suck
I figured after I put up I had a claim in on markakis that Corby would play some defense, but didn't imagine how low he'd sink.
corby you might have a problem with this fantasy stuff.
and before any of you accuse me of being on an ego trip look who has the 3rd waiver priority and notice he only referenced the top 2 waiver priorities.
(corby actually has 3 but you can't grab your own guy off waivers)
yeah, that is way weak.
i think you will still get him though
i think he could grab him...but still.
I think you can still grab him...and fully plan on doing so.
I know of a guy who will be added on waivers who will be added soon and wouldn't mind moving up on waivers. Markakis was dropped for this sole purpose...
I only reference the top two because I am 3
its all good corby
and chances are the top 2 have no clue who is coming up.
This is good stuff
Michael Vick's property that has been at the center of dog-fighting allegations has been put up for sale.
Usually we're against selling low, but this seems like a good idea.
Corbin...Santana is not going anywhere.
who the hell is homer bailey?
He is the Phil Hughes, Tim Lincecum, Mark Prior, Kerry Wood type prospect for the Reds.
Barry Bonds
Ryan Zimmerman
Felix Hernandez
Homer Bailey
for
Aramis Rameriz
Johan Santana
Roy Halladay
you would be sending me 4 big question marks.
can bonds keep this pace up at his age?
can zimmerman not completely suck?
can hernandez come back from injury?
can bailey even get called up?
what a stupid deal for me to make.
Let's not forget that Santana was the third pick in the draft.
No way I give him up that easily.
I'm absolutely fine with my team...
no way i send
D-Lee
Al. Reyes
for
Halladay
Casey Blake
Not saying you would.
That was me just sniffing around.
spiff let's get a deal done for hoff or smoltz
LOV is shutting me out. Awesome blogger.
whats up with dunn
nvm, im looking for a straight upper
mostly looking to move a SP now
